Updating CharterSUITE to the most current version:  Three Choices

The Ridiculously Easy Update (If you already have Version 6.x installed)

• Just close CharterSUITE if it's running.
• RUN this file: www.CharterSUITESoftware.com/software/csupdate.exe and click UNZIP.

The Easy Update (If you are upgrading from Version 4.x or 5.x)

• Just close CharterSUITE if it's running
• RUN this file: www.CharterSUITESoftware.com/software/csupdate.exe and click UNZIP.
• Register a new file that was added:

• Copy the file AddEmail.dll from your C:\Program Files\CharterSUITE\ folder to your C:\Windows\System32 folder
• Click START | RUN, then type or paste this into the text box:

        REGSVR32 "C:\Windows\System32\AddEmail.dll"

         and click OPEN.  It should say "...suceeded."

• Verify that you have the file dao360.dll in this folder:

• C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\
• If not, drop me a note and I'll email it to you to register.

Kind of Easy (If you want to reinstall the software from scratch, but retain all of your stored information)

STEP 1:  Backup your Data (then check it to be sure you've done so!)

1) Please create a temporary folder anywhere on your hard drive (RIGHT-click on START, then select EXPLORE.  Then click FILE | NEW | FOLDER and name it anything you want). This will be where you will store your stuff temporarily.

2)Copy the following files from your C:\Program Files\CharterSUITE folder to the folder you just created:

• CHARTERSUITE.MDB
• [AllOfYourTextFiles].TXT
• [AllOfYourPictures].BMP
• CS.KEY 

To copy these files, RIGHT-click on START, then select EXPLORE.  Hold the CONTROL key down and highlight each file, then RIGHT-click on any one of the highlighted files and select COPY.  Then RIGHT-click on the folder you created in 1) above and select PASTE.

STEP 2:  Uninstall CharterSUITE

Click START | CONTROL PANEL | ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS, select CHARTERSUITE from the list and click ADD/REMOVE...

STEP 3:  Reinstall CharterSUITE, Version 6.x

Click HERE and OPEN (RUN) the file.

STEP 4:  Copy your data back.

Copy the files from 1) above back into your C:\Program Files\CharterSUITE folder (RIGHT-click on START, then select EXPLORE.  Hold the CONTROL key down and highlight each file, then RIGHT-click on any one of the highlighted files and select COPY.  Then RIGHT-click on the C:\Program Files\CharterSUITE folder and select PASTE.)
